Our Story

“When we started our first home together, we wanted it to have a cozy feeling with things we liked looking at, touching, and living in.” — Kahlan and Dennis

After 5 years as a housekeeping manager in the hotel industry, Dennis knows exactly how the details create the feel of a room. High-end scents, designer furniture, the soft and fluffy feeling of the bathrobe, and the smooth, silk-like touch of the sheets, that’s what sets a five star hotel above the rest.

As a newly married couple we were looking to create the most comfortable and stylish home with decor of high-quality, natural fabric. We searched anywhere from high-end department stores and designer homeware boutiques, to budget-friendly home decor chains. But the products were either too pricey or the quality way too poor…

Luxury does not come cheap, but it does not have to overpriced either! If we couldn’t find quality homeware at reasonable prices, we decided to design it ourselves!

That became the origin of The Real Living — our attempt at making fine living available to real families, living real lives.

We believe that if we can design products that satisfy our critical needs, after years in the hotel business, they’re sure to satisfy many other families too.
